8 Great Uses for Lemon Essential Oil
Updated: Sep 21, 2020
We are all well aware that Lemon essential oil has an invigorating aroma, but are you aware of these other 8 uses for this amazing essential oil?
1) Original All-Purpose Cleaner
I use Lemon essential oil for so many cleaning projects. It is amazing as a kitchen counter top cleaner, window cleaner & polish, stainless steel polisher, and it even removes baked stubborn oil residues left on your glass ovenware.
(Mix 5 to 6 drops Lemon essential oil with water and vinegar in a spray bottle to cleanse and purify surfaces. For stainless steel, mix Lemon essentialoil with olive oil for great results.)
2) Removing Sticky Residues
Sticky gum, glue, even nasty residue left from tape, stickers and labels - Lemon oil will remove them effectively - even chewing gum from hair. Try it on permanent marker too.
3) Nasty Washcloths
We all encounter foul smelling washcloths. Give them a freshening boost by adding lemon oil to your detergent, and let them soak overnight.
4) Flavour Boost
Love lemon in your water? Try a drop of Lemon essential oil - full of flavour and without the tartness, plus it cleanses the body and aids digestion.
Out of fresh lemons for your recipe? No problem - use a toothpick to build up flavours in your dips, desserts. Lemon-frosted cupcakes anyone?
5) Natural Happiness
I do a challenge in my essential oil classes. I invite everyone to pass around a bottle of lemon essential oil and breathe in the aroma. The challenge is to avoid putting a smile on your face - IT'S IMPOSSIBLE! I call it the "Happy Oil" because it never fails to brighten a mood.
6) Leather & Furniture
You can use your lemon essential oil to nourish leather and prevent splitting. Combine with olive oil to make a great furniture polish.
7) Eradicate Unwanted Smells
Burnt your dinner? Forgot to take out the garbage? Pet had an accident on the carpet? Next time diffuse Lemon essential oil to freshen up a room.
8) Occasional Nausea
My grandmother taught me to smell an orange or lemon when I was feeling nauseous. It worked! But why carry a lemon on a long car ride or up those winding mountain roads? Simply keep your bottle of lemon essential oil with you, or place drops on cotton wool balls by the car vents to make the journey much more pleasurable.
