Pets & Fireworks: Top 3 Calming Tips
Updated: Nov 9, 2023
New Year's Day, Canada Day, July 4th, Guy Fawkes Night - all are supposed to be a fun celebration.
But sadly, it can be traumatic for pets. They don't understand that fireworks are there for us to be wowed and entertained. We know the whistles and booms are just temporary, but they don't know that, and those sounds can be alarming and terrifying to an animal. Here are my top 3 tips for helping your pet keep calm and reduce those stressful feelings:- 1) Keep pets inside in the quietest room in the house with their favourite blanket and bedding, preferably away from any windows. 2) Play relaxing music at a good volume (not too loud) or have the TV on to drown out some of the firework sounds. 3) Use relaxing oils such as LAVENDER, FRANKINCENSE, SERENITY (the Restful blend) (Click here to Buy Essential Oils) or a combination of all three. Dilute 1-2 essential oil drops in a teaspoon of carrier oil and rub along their spine, back of neck and on their outer ears (never put oils inside the ear canal, around eyes, nose cavity or other sensitive areas).
